Renata Catena de Castro is Co-Founder of the Ilha do Mel Nativo project and works at the intersection of environmental communication, community engagement, and cultural appreciation. A long-time visitor to Pontal do Sul and Ilha do Mel for more than 25 years, she has developed a close relationship with the coastline, its ecosystems, and local communities. This long-standing connection has shaped her understanding of preservation, environmental balance, and the importance of protecting the region’s natural identity.
Renata also has a strong connection with the children supported by Human Hand and has been directly involved in initiatives that reached more than 900 families and impacted over 4,000 children. This experience strengthened her interest in education and in creating opportunities for children and young people to understand, in practical ways, the value of nature, environmental responsibility, and a balanced relationship with the territory.
As Co-Founder of Human Hand Org, Renata has participated in the development of social-impact initiatives focused on inclusion, sustainability, and community development. Her connection with the Paraná coast and her interest in Atlantic Forest ecosystems also led her to study native stingless bees and the importance of pollination for biodiversity conservation.
This journey reinforced a long-term purpose: to contribute to the creation of a sustainable school that brings together environmental education, community practices, and real-life learning experiences for children and families.
