Citizen Science and Pollinator Monitoring
Pollinator conservation depends on observation. Understanding which species are present, where they occur and how their populations interact with the surrounding environment helps build knowledge about biodiversity and ecological change.

This approach is particularly relevant to Ilha do Mel Nativo because the project works directly with native pollinators, Atlantic Forest biodiversity, environmental education and community engagement.
Native Pollinators and the Atlantic Forest
Native bees are part of complex ecological relationships involving plants, forests, food production and biodiversity.
Brazil has a remarkable diversity of native bees, including stingless species that have developed close relationships with native vegetation over long evolutionary periods.
In Atlantic Forest environments, understanding these relationships is important not only for the conservation of individual bee species, but also for the protection of the ecological systems in which they participate.
