Paraná is home to one of the most important Atlantic Forest regions in southern Brazil, with a rich diversity of coastal ecosystems, forests, mangroves, restingas and marine environments. Areas such as Pontal do Sul and Ilha do Mel are especially relevant for biodiversity conservation, scientific research, environmental education and the protection of native species.
