Stingless Bees

This category focuses on Brazil’s native stingless bees, a key group of pollinators found throughout Pontal do Sul, Ilha do Mel and the Atlantic Forest coastline. It features information on species such as Melipona and Jataí, their ecological role, nesting behavior and importance for coastal biodiversity. All content aligns with the mission of the Ilha do Mel Nativo project – Guardians of Native Bees and Coastal Biodiversity – to increase awareness, protect natural habitats and promote science-based conservation of these essential pollinators.

Ilha do Mel Nativo is an environmental initiative based in Pontal do Sul and along the coastal region of Paraná, Brazil. Our mission is to promote awareness, conservation and appreciation of the biodiversity of this Atlantic Forest ecosystem with a special focus on pollination processes and Brazil’s native stingless bees.
