Atlantic Forest biodiversity

This category showcases the rich biodiversity of the Atlantic Forest ecosystem surrounding Pontal do Sul and Ilha do Mel. All materials connect to the mission of the Ilha do Mel Nativo project – Guardians of Native Bees and Coastal Biodiversity – to promote scientific understanding, conservation awareness and responsible engagement with one of Brazil’s most important natural environments.

Ilha do Mel Nativo is an environmental initiative based in Pontal do Sul and along the coastal region of Paraná, Brazil. Our mission is to promote awareness, conservation and appreciation of the biodiversity of this Atlantic Forest ecosystem with a special focus on pollination processes and Brazil’s native stingless bees.
