Renata Catena de Castro is the Co-Founder of the Ilha do Mel Nativo project, working at the intersection of environmental communication, community engagement and cultural integration. A visitor of Pontal do Sul and Ilha do Mel for more than 25 years, Renata has developed a deep connection with the coastline, its ecosystems and its local community. This long-term relationship shaped her understanding of preservation, environmental balance and the importance of protecting the region’s natural identity.
Deeply connected to the children supported by Human Hand, Renata has been directly involved in initiatives that reached more than 900 families and impacted over 4,000 children. This experience strengthened her passion for educating, guiding and creating opportunities for young people to understand the value of nature, environmental responsibility and a balanced relationship with the territory.
As Co-Founder of Human Hand Org, Renata has led social-impact initiatives focused on inclusion, sustainability and community development. Her long-standing bond with the Paraná coastline and her interest in Atlantic Forest ecosystems encouraged her to study native stingless bees and the crucial role of pollination. This journey reinforced her purpose of one day creating a sustainable school, bringing together environmental education, community practices and real-life learning experiences for children and families.
Renata’s work strengthens the mission of the Ilha do Mel Nativo project by uniting people, territory and environmental purpose. Her human-centered vision, her social-impact experience and her dedication to conservation help build a project that honors the region’s history, inspires new generations and promotes a future grounded in awareness, care and sustainability.
